Black Lotus Yoga
A 2-Day Black Lotus Yoga Immersion with Ty Landrum 3-4 October 2026
About the intensive
Lotus Yoga is the latest blossom of the modern vinyasa tradition. It arose unexpectedly, on a sudden wave of breath, to encourage bold new explorations of the body and mind. Based on old Hatha principles, the practice gives tradition new life, by encouraging improvisation within an overarching structure. With six balanced and exhilarating sequences, Black Lotus Yoga reaches deep into the body, rousing dormant powers and inviting the creative sap to flow.
In Black Lotus Yoga, the body is not an instrument of the mind. Instead, the body is what the Hatha tradition takes it to be an organic enfoldment of a sublime creative power that is quietly burning to take expression through us, and guide us into our true life. Our practice is to open to that power, feel it moving under our skin, and surrender to its movement, so it can reshape us from the inside.
In this workshop, we go beyond formal introductions to explore the philosophy behind the practice, and to learn the subtle techniques that bring that philosophy alive—tracing inner movements of breath, balancing subtle patterns of sensation, and lifting support from earth to sky. These are the foundation of bandha and mudra. Throughout this workshop, we explore yoga it was meant to be—a mode of contemplating the sublime wonder of embodiment.
What to expect
This workshop is for anyone who wants to learn Black Lotus Yoga, as well as for people who are already practicing the Black Lotus Yoga system and want a more rounded understanding. Those who come from Ashtanga will find Black Lotus to be an enriching alternative. No previous experience with Black Lotus Yoga is necessary! The entire system is developing, and you are invited to share the excitement.
Optional lecture: Yoga Philosophy
3 October 2026, 18:00 - 20:00 hrs
This Yoga Philosophy Lecture with Ty offers an evening of study and reflection rooted in lived practice. Ty has a grounded way of sharing yoga philosophy, making ancient teachings feel relevant as a framework for navigating life today. Rather than abstract theory, his approach invites inquiry into how these teachings can offer orientation, clarity, and a sense of steadiness in the midst of modern challenges.
The lecture can be attended as a standalone event and also forms part of the Black Lotus Yoga weekend intensive.
The Teacher
Ty Landrum
Ty Landrum is a poet, philosopher, somatic explorer and apprentice to the body. He learned yoga from pain and heartache, loss and confusion, old books and lost tapes, full moons, long bouts of silence, cold winds, simplicity, forgiveness, surrender, and the caring words of a few good friends.
Renowned for his profound explorations of traditional yogic ideas, Ty has a unique talent for bringing the philosophy of yoga alive, not only in words, but on the canvas of the breathing body. His passion as a teacher is to share the brilliance of yoga with anyone who wants to learn.
Global Flow x Ty
Ty Landrum is coming back to Amsterdam, and I’m happy to welcome him again at Global Flow. I first met Ty while hosting a free online yoga event during the Covid period, and I was immediately drawn to his deep knowledge of yoga philosophy and the way he truly embodies his practice.
Ty brings a rare combination of dedication, lived understanding, and humility to his teaching. Through Black Lotus Yoga, his own method rooted in Ashtanga yoga, he brings together years of study and personal practice in a way that feels grounded and accessible. We’re excited to host Ty at Global Flow again and to offer you the opportunity to deepen and broaden your practice through his teachings.
